Let me explain something about politics that shouldn't need explaining to guys who are accomplished enough to be elected Senator. It is far better for Barack Obama to hit the magic number tonight as a result of the votes of the people, than for Obama to hit the magic number tomorrow as a result of the votes of the superdelegates. After all we've been through, shouldn't that be clear by this point? Additionally, Obama is going to Minnesota tonight, to the site of the Republican convention this summer. He needs to be able to announce there, with all the cameras watching, that he is now our party's nominee. We are missing a huge opportunity because of people like Harkin, Carper and Salazar who, for whatever reason (I hear that some folks on the Hill don't believe that Reid told them to wait), are delaying their decisions and further the damage to our party. And one thing tonight is certainly NOT about is Hillary Clinton. How in God's name does anyone pervert Obama reaching 2,118 delegates as a moment we should devote to the loser? You people are responsible for letting this mess drag on far too long. Now is your chance to fix it. So fix it. Perhaps they need a nudge. Don't email, call their offices now and tell them this is getting ridiculous. And we're watching.I've had enough of sacrificing the general election and the good of the country for individual loyalty to the Clinton's. There are a whole lot of us who have never viewed the Clinton's in the same light as some affectionately have in the past, some of who also now despise her. To us, this is a huge slap in the face, because contrary to what the media keeps saying, the next few days isn't all about Hillary Clinton. It's about US, the citizens (and non-citizens), the military personnel of this country, past and present, and even though it might sound like a broad statement that many American's don't care to hear, it also about the citizens of the world, and the direction many are still hoping for us to lead them in. Hillary Clinton is included, as is Barack Obama. This is our chance to right the wrongs of not just the last 8 years, but for some of us, the politics of an entire lifetime, whether your 30 or 70. I had a lot of hope for the Clinton's, but honestly after Waco and NAFTA, it dissipated from there. I did defend Bill's perversions and sexual addiction because if it had nothing to do with his governance, then who the fuck cares? The only thing that angered me was what a fucking man-child he turned out to be in the way he handled it, which was/is the last thing we need in this country as the President of the United States. His approval ratings were still huge, so even if I couldn't stand him for some of his horrible policies and decisions, I defended him because the majority of the country still did, and the republicans were reprehensible in the 90's. However, never did the 90's resemble any "new" kind of politics that could have started 4 years ago had we not allowed the media to effectively turn a good man into a perceived stark raving lunatic in view of the public eye simply because he showed enthusiasm for taking down a bunch of, in my eyes, murderers and their accomplices. But it was this group, the one backing Hillary now, that helped take Dean down so "electable" Kerry could win. This has been my point all along, these are the same assholes who have gotten us where we are today. The VP push isn't just about her, it's about allowing this side of the democratic party, their money and influences, still call the shots. I really hope the Obama camp doesn't cave. No one said this was going to be easy. There will be untold amounts of money that I can't even fathom spent to beat this young, black man, who is, most importantly, the best hope we've ever had to take this country back from corporate clutches, even if it's only the beginning of a long, expensive battle. They're not just going to give it up, and right now, Hillary Clinton, and all of those sympathizers are leading the charge.
