If you have the privilege (or not), please watch how much shit the Flames are allowed to get away with. Watch how they grab, hug, tug, pull, slash, late-hit. I'm not talking about whether the penalty calling is uneven, that's not the point. My point is when they randomly choose what to let go, instead of calling the game tight all the way (which would obviously benefit the more skilled team), teams like The Flames end up with the advantage. And without it they couldn't get out of the first round, or maybe even into the playoffs in the first place (then who would have represented the Canadian-West?). Fine, whatever, it is what it is, but then don't insult my intelligence by acting as though you want the game to be improved.
The good ol' Stars seemed to be enjoying their same old benefits again (if you don't know what I'm talking about ask any Pacific Division or Buffalo fan). I'm not saying it's just the Flames that benefit from inconsistent calls, there are several teams that typically get away with shit most teams can't, on most nights. That's partly what is meant by the saying "making the other team play your game." On some nights you'll hear announcers imply, and seem to enjoy, that they can't call everything because there would be a parade to the penalty box throughout the game. Well, the NHL, owners and management, players and fans have said so be it, several fucking times. In October everyone is fine with it, and publicly encourage the tighter calls, yet somehow, come April, everyone just accepts that we're back to the same old obstruction game that fucking sucks and takes away from the overall integrity of the game, at the most important time of the year. Unless you get that ref team that decides to go back to the tighter penalty calling, on any given night, hence Drew Remenda's comments I referenced. That said, the Sharks have to find their 4th gear now, or we're in trouble even if we do come back and win the series. The past few days has seen me questioning my faith in everything right now, not a good time of the season for that. More...
..maybe.
All I can say is man, you must be getting a completely different story-line if you're not watching Bay Area Comcast. It's only the middle of the first round and I'm already complaining how much I hate hockey and how I'm going to quit watching ( I watch every single Rangers and Sharks game). I've said that at some point in the post season every year since the lockout. What can I say? I love my men and their passion. I am truly a hockey addict.
WOO-FUCKIN-HOOOooo!!! 9.4 seconds left. I love my gorgeous men. Game on, bitches.
