I Guess I'm Not Really A Democrat

According to KY state law I don't get to vote for my candidate because I, and thousands like me, didn't register before December 31st , the deadline to change party affiliation in order to vote in the primary (why did I get a notice three weeks ago from Obama's people reminding me I was not a registered democrat?). Secretary of State Terry Grayson alerted the media of the quiet law as the number of registered voters switching parties had reached upwards of 9,000. That number is expected to grow in the coming weeks leading up the primary.
Grayson said voter registration drives by supporters of Democratic presidential candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton could inadvertently cause the number of ineligible voters to grow. Grayson said Obama's campaign requested 5,000 Kentucky voter registration cards earlier this week.
"Inadvertently?" How the fuck do you know? I don't think this would be such a big deal if 1. It was a commonly known law, which clearly it wasn't, and 2. If we didn't hold closed primaries. If we held an open primary none of this would be necessary. Yeah, it sucks that there are a few assholes that skew the system by voting for Hillary in hopes of easily defeating her in November, but the alternative is to shut out voters who do not identify with either party. It's bullshit either way, but at least voters aren't being disenfranchised in a Primary at the overall expense of the general election. You know those voters that won't vote for Clinton in the general? I really don't know what we can do about it now, but I intend to find out.
