This is the kind of shit that happens when mega multinationals are given too much power and gleefully go unchecked. I honestly don't understand how anyone who can afford not to still shops at Wal-Mart. This group includes a few people that I love. Shopping at Wal-Mart is much like an addiction in that you only care about the short term high and don't think about the long-term consequences, which is a microcosm of what has happened to this country over the last 50 years. Even though they've cleaned up their act a bit over the last few years, I haven't eaten at McDonald's in 12 years and will never eat there again because, 1. I don't have to since I'm not poor (yet) 2. It tastes like shit, is addictive, and is horrible for you and your brain 3. Because of McLibel they were exposed for what all giant corporations who live above the law are: uncompromising, unfeeling, greed machines still in need of regulation, being held as an example as long as they continue to pop up on every street corner, no matter what country they reside in. We'll operate at any speed to get what we want/need, inconsiderate of the ongoing impact it has on not only the people in this country, but all of the people fucked by Wal-Mart in their seep-down effect all over the globalised world.
