We fell asleep like old people no more than 5 minutes after 12:00. Accidentally left two bottles of Champaign in the freezer, both exploded, so the entire thing had to be cleaned out early this morning (not by me). The jello shots were saved because I had put them in the fridge right before I fell asleep, not sure why I didn't think to pull out the Champaign, too. We have to eat the jello shots or throw them out before the little bear gets home, so she doesn't ask for one. Since she slept over at grandma's house and is staying there for the day, we're having Kettle jello shots and egg sandwiches for breakfast, but there are just way too many and I made them too strong. I haven’t drank like a champion in a very long time and I just don’t have the desire to wreck my body for a buzz. And now I just want to go take a nap. Have to take a shower, have to watch the outdoor game in Buffalo at 1:00. And at some point I have to catch up with the world, and finalize plans for my trip.
Despite the melancholy mood, I think this is going to be an exciting and important year in our collective history.
Happy New Year.
UPDATE: Being a rabid Bills fan I completely appreciate those awesome fans in Buffalo, but being a Rangers fan, I hate the Sabres, and have absolutely hated the Penguins for as long as I have been watching hockey- which is a very, very long time. However, that outdoor game was fucking awesome! The NHL should plan to do that more often, even though it ended up being approximately 3.5 hours long, the overtime and shootout were worth it. Yayy! The NHL did something right for a change!
