PSA

If you're anti-Semitic you are, by definition, not considered the modern "far left", you're not on the "left" at all. Those things are contrary to one another. You also cannot be anti-Muslim. To repeat this kind of blatant misrepresentation is to participate in deliberate propaganda that is so stupid and basic you should be laughed out of any room that contains any serious human beings.  Sam Harris, not left. Bill Maher, not left. All of the dumb, lazy politicians, pundits or so-called comedians who make dangerous and careless generalizations about insert religious or non religious group, not left.  Having a few "leftist"based ideals does not make you part of the left. If that were true my boss, who has been a registered republican since he came to America in the early 80s, but has very leftist views socially and has voted for mostly democrats, part of the left. He is not, and he would tell you he's not because those things that make him a conservative (classism) makes him not be able to (or want to) claim he's part of the left. I have family who were born and raised in red state KY, voted for every democratic governor we've ever had, who have said same thing. People who want to hedge their bets and keep their "little prejudices" cannot be part of the left, even when they think they are. Terfs, even those who identify as queer, are not left. Keep in mind that a whole bunch of "moderates" and talking heads on the right are currently making a killing by constantly complaining about the fact that if you are an anti-Semite, racist, or transphobe, you are not accepted by those who are characterized as the left. Can you say the same about the moderates or the right?

For most modern atheists, none of this is about religion at all.  Nobody is evil or a demon or angel.  They're just shitty, selfish human beings doing shitty, selfish things, or they're misguided and misled people doing, saying shitty things because they don't know any different and/or they're acting out of fear, real and manufactured. Fascists governments (a political entity) and their apologists like to make everything only about religion so they can label others as anti-religion or as Nazi stand-ins, no matter how much they themselves have come to resemble them.  Some Jews and Muslims hate atheists just as much as they may hate each other when it comes to their religious beliefs. That means nothing to me unless they're trying to force their religious beliefs into laws that affect all people. And a great many don't do that or want to do that.  Just like most atheists, many religious people don't give a shit at all about what your or my spiritual beliefs are, just as long as you're not forcing it upon them or using it as a way to isolate or punish large groups of people you disagree with.  It's only the bigots who always resort to using the most personal and private beliefs as a cudgel to get what they want. Bigots come in all shapes and sizes, but they don't come from the modern left, because you can't be a bigot and be on the left. "The left" views everything through a basic human rights lens, rights that everyone should always be afforded.  Even those extremists who want to jail or kill us still have basic human rights, even if they don't think I do. I don't know how the meaning of a phrases like, There but for the grace of god go I or don't forget the Golden Rule are expressed in some way in almost every religion, yet is the easiest forgotten lesson amongst their supposed most dedicated followers, when it's all any of the rest of us recognize we have in common and try to live by.

The right thinks that accusing someone of being an anti-Semite or a "pedo" is going to put you back on your heals, but this isn't 1995, and we've seen all of this before. The internet is forever and most everyone has access to it.  The only thing that comes of it is they're successfully able to change the subject for a little bit, while deliberately making it all the more muddled when there are actual anti-Semites and pedophiles out in the public sphere safely operating as normalized citizens among us. This, of course, benefits the far right, where anti-Semites and pedophiles are just another demographic to keep happy and take money from.

The amoral "centrists" in NYC were too complacent to care that Eric Adams is just one of many self-declared "moderates" who infiltrated the democratic party to lean on the political baseline and normalize the language they use in order to cater to capitalists, moderates, and right-wing fascists/theocrats, while dragging the whole party toward the right with them. It's nothing new, just turns out these days they don't have to pull very hard because the current base of the democratic party were always meant to be paper tigers in the first place. Join "the left" to claim the moral high ground, often through utilizing the same identity politics that you claim to reject, while acting like a fucking capital-worshiping extremist ghoul. Apparently no one is going to stop you.
