From David Kurtz:
Where is Hillary? While it would be nice to hear from her on the campaign trail, even in a subtle manner, I know that this must be a tricky situation for her to control her message through the press, considering all of the bitching they did during the primary (and beyond) to try to get a leg up. Besides, she could talk about McCain and Palin until she's blue in the face, it's not going to change anybody's mind at this point. Palin is an antagonistic, insensitive asshole with empty eyes, you either relate to those type of people or you don't. The rabid cunts in the audience, once again, proved my theory of at least half of the Republican party being certifiable sociopaths. If there is one thing I know for sure after last night, it's that if moderates and women who have even remotely been paying attention don't get it by now, they probably just don't want to. Those people looked like a sea of empty minds. They'll do what they're told, repeat everything they hear, and change their mind on the drop of a dime. They find it easy to cling to one issue like guns, ass fucking, "terrorism," and/or "baby killing," everything else be damned. They don't give a shit about electing a woman VP beyond setting the precedent before the Democrats do, they can't help but to think like children. Sociopathic children. They only see what they want to see and no one, certainly not a liberal democrat, is going to change their minds for them.
On another note, I cannot believe that tonight, for the first time ever, I will watch the O'Reilly Factor (I've only seen clips). I wonder if today is the day that the douche won't be able to keep himself from falling in love with Obama, if for no other reason than just to try to prove he really is an independent thinker. Although, the Senator is quite stunning up close, I don't know if that fiend will be able to resist. As much as I hate that the he is doing that shitty show, it's a very smart move tactically on the last day of the convention [Friday note: I haven’t been able to bring myself to watch it, but I assume it also helps him to be able to go on Olbermann without O'Reilly whining]. However, when any politician makes decisions that could have long-term consequences for the fourth estate, solely to benefit their political career, I can't help but lose a little respect for them (like legitimizing any of the sensationalistic simple clowns at FOX or appearing on The View to promote a book, only to declare to "the ladies" and their audience that Bush is not a criminal - maybe she didn't want to offend those Hasselback wingnuts). But, I do understand that every action taken by the campaign is for the sake of the entire world, and Senator Obama feels he needs to have his voice heard by the righty-moderates/conservative Independents during a week when the Republicans have been spewing utter lies indiscriminately. I just hope this won't become a regular occurrence. Regardless of what happens, the interview should be entertaining.
