I'm going to throw a thought out there because ever since I watched a rerun of "Awakenings: Return to Life", a story on 60 minutes, I can't stop thinking about it (you can watch below if you like). I'm fairly certain that anyone who saw the news magazine's report and knows anything about brain injury/function issues probably had the same reaction. I don't know a whole lot about brain trauma/deficiencies, but I know enough from my cousin’s injuries and my grandma's dementia to be intensely curious about McCain's diminished mental state. I do know that there were several different drugs used at the same time to help revive cognitive thinking and memory in my cousin, and to help keep those functions sharp in my grandma's case. I am almost positive that my cousin was given Ambien as part of his cocktail and I think my grandmother was given the sleep aid, as well. In what context, I don't know, but I'll find out. The piece on 60 minutes profiled patients who had been brought out of a minimally conscious state when they were given the drug, which somehow woke up previously dormant parts of their brain. The doctors were shocked and are currently doing studies to figure out if there is a breakthrough regarding Ambien as a treatment for brain disorders.
We already know that McCain takes Ambien. The question is when and what for? Before giving his (non) responses regarding his possible relationship with Spain? Or could that have been a missed dose moment? There are side effects to Ambien, are they causing his public confusion? Regardless, can we really afford four more years of another seemingly bewildered leader, whether it be dumbass Palin or befuddled McCain? What will the rest of the world think of us if we elect another inept President?
A few clips in this for your consideration...
