McCain's Hypocrisy

A March 2004 Washington Post piece, ironically on McCain's defense of Kerry on National Security, offers a few tidbits. It's fun doing these news searches. It's insane the shit you find, but what's even more crazy is the fact that it seems McCain was never "properly vetted", that's a myth. The same patterns that we're finding now with the Media making excuses for him has been happening his entire career. When you find any negative or semi-revealing articles about him pre 2006, it's all the same shit, and there is almost always some sort of required mention of McCain as a maverick, hero, or some other prop of stature. I'll post more if/when I have time to summarize. In speaking of the 2004 election...
"Both sides have been beating up on the other in the most negative campaign earlier than I've ever seen," he said. "I'd like to see it stop. I'd like to see a serious discussion about Medicare, Social Security, education, what we're going to do about the deficit and overspending."

"I think we ought to have open and honest debates on those issues. I think the president has led this nation with clarity since September 11th. I'm supporting his reelection. But I would certainly hope that we could raise the level of this debate. Otherwise, we're going to have very low voter turnouts in November."
I haven't heard much about any of these issues lately. Come to think of it, I haven't heard much of the McCain platform in months, just offensive attacks on Obama.

And here's McCain's own Charlie Black calling the Arizona Senator a celebrity:
Republican activist Charlie Black, who is close to many Bush advisers, agreed. "I don't think this is a very big deal," he said. "John McCain has done everything the Bush campaign has asked him to do. . . . John's a celebrity; he makes news."
That's an understatement. More later if I have time.

More on the Hollywood/Celebrity garbage: Seems McCain's gotten himself a William Morris agent.
