Training the Media

Apparently, over the past few months McCain has been restricting reporters and leaning on local media to play hard to get in order to make his faithful national press core jealous, and put them in their proper place. That pussy/cock-tease. I guess that's what all the praise and metaphorical (surely not literally, right?) old-man-cum guzzling is about, they're just trying to get back on pop-pop's good side. Man, that's fucking gross. He's just training them how to a be a good ho, those that print the right slant and reactions get rewarded on the back of the bus with papa McCain, those that ask the pesky questions, which are not static (that's the mind-fuck part, you never know what could get ya bitch-slapped) get relegated to tag along behind with the rest of the misbehaving whores. If they're lucky, they get to breathe his smog. It worked, in essence, for Bush, so why not?

All I can say is every little battle that the Democrats willingly allow the Republicans to win makes this sort of white-washing acceptable in their eyes and the eyes of millions of Americans. Disgraceful. (via Sudbay)

Our competent media watchdogs, doing what they can to make sure the integrity of the fourth estate is non-existent. At the very least, we can't even believe our own eyes anymore.
In a sentiment no doubt expressed by news organizations everywhere on Wednesday, an MSNBC editor admitted that the four-missile picture was initially welcomed with open arms. “As the media editor working the msnbc.com home page yesterday, I was frustrated with the quality of a fuzzy video image we published of the Iranian missile launch,” Rich Shulman, associate multimedia editor, said. “So I was thrilled when the top image crossed the news wires.”
I bet. (via Cesca)

Shearer adds more.

Whenever I turn any of that shit on, I just remind myself these are mostly the same nobodies they were a year ago, it's just now, due to this historic election, the nobodies have a moderately new audience who thinks they're somebody, with the minimal built-in integrity and dedication any real journalist is supposed to have. They're all just trying to stay under the stage lights so they don't get put back on the nobody list come January. Many of those media types who ever actually possessed anything resembling a soul lost it long ago when they signed it over to their corporate overlords.

[please bear with me, I'm having indecisive/second-guessing issues, like when you look at a common word like douche and think its spelled wrong, and I don't want to edit a published post 500 times, so I'm trying to be really careful, but unfortunately, when I do that I miss really obvious stuff. It could be like this for a few days, at least.]
