Media Blitz

More bullshit that I don't have the time to properly summarize today. The news is back to only being depressing. Not in the information itself, in the way fucking idiots will potentially eat that shit up.

No shock that the AP is a corporate media arm of the right, from Jason Linkins at Huffpost. More dot connecting from Sudbay.

On John McLaughlin's show last weekend, there was a whole racist exchange about Senator Obama and Jesse Jackson, and not a fucking peep from any MSM outlet (from Nicole Belle at C&L). You gotta love (hate) two old white guys trying to have this stupid conversation (the second half of the clip).

Aravosis comments on the New Yorker cover and the media at large, then addresses Mrs. Greenspan's double-standard.

Cesca's take
on the cover is interesting, being that his career has been built upon being a proud satirist.

And last, but not least, a real satirical take on the stupidity of the day from JeffLieber at DKos. I completely agree with his update at the bottom.

In response to a few comments I read today from a few smart-asses who clearly don't know what the fuck they are talking about, regarding the New Yorker cover and ignorant rednecks: No, redneck racists don't read the New Yorker, they don't have to, thanks to the coverage of this stupid caricature, the image is all over the fucking place. It only takes a few people fueled by hate with a computer and a printer to create a poster for target practice. And not all rednecks, in fact most rednecks do not live in shanty towns in the mountains. They live in suburbs and cities all across America, not just in Appalachia or the south. And they don't care if you know it or not, it's to their advantage that people act as if they're not there. I live in a multi-racial neighborhood in the supposed "most liberal city in KY" (where on my block, whitey is, by far, outnumbered, which is actually why we moved here), but there was still an idiot who lived behind me who hung a giant Confederate flag on his front porch, facing two black families across the street, who hang out in their front yard all the time. Due to his insanely thick hair, John's head is always shaved bald, and sometimes assumed racists/neo-nazi skinheads nod at him (especially if he's wearing his doc's) because they think he's a skinhead (to which he usually stares them down like he's going to rip their tongue out of their throat and give 'em a taste of their own asshole). This guy that lived behind us until fairly recently did that all the time.
Jesus, stereotypical liberals, take your fucking heads out of your asses. The New Yorker was trying to be controversial and sell magazines. That's it, they didn't think it through because they simply don't give a shit in the broader scheme of things.
