Fucking Commercials

I pay for my television, all of it, we have no free tv. So then why the fuck am I forced to watch commercials? The DVR has made me not hate the television as much, but I still hate commercials, because commercials make you stupid. Then they tell you to be ok with being stupid. I'm not discounting the fact that, unfortunately, it's the way people have to make their living, even many otherwise smart comedians and actors. But the marketers and corporations they have to work for are mostly evil greed heads with no shame. First, they try to sell your kids useless and sugary shit. Next, they try to sell your husband crap he doesn't need by telling him it's normal that he's an inconsiderate asshole, while serving up some stupid beer-whore image he can conjure later while he's jacking off in one hand, holding his brand new power tool in the other, even though it was an airline commercial. And that's OK, it's the way it's supposed to be. They try to sell women shit by belittling them, telling them that their place is in the kitchen with their cleaners, in front of the washer and dryer with their Snuggle (those towels better be soft or your kids will hate you and your husband will fuck the babysitter), or at the helm of her brand new shiny vacuum, at the shopping mall, or in a diamond/grocery store. A lazy credit-addicted public eats it right up, leaving slivers of their soul dangling from the corners of their mouths like the wet noodle they've become.

It's part of the reason I won't be watching hockey anymore. We're on a fucking power play, down a goal with a few minutes left in the game, and I'm forced to watch Erin the Esurance girl take up 3/4 of the fucking screen WHILE play is going on. This is after the $10 a month I have to pay for the Sports Package (for Versus, where this usually happens, though FSBA was just as bad), not to mention the $150 a year I pay for the NHL package. I swear as they pat their own backs for being creative in slithering their way on the screen, I am inching closer to canceling television here. A tv free house. I'm just sick of it.
