Harry Shearer points out that last week, while we were excited about declaring our presumptive nominee to be elected our next president, George Bush is freaking out the entire world by pressing what many should have guessed they would do back in March 2003: forcing a permanent presence in Iraq by enacting a "strategic alliance". They're trying to create a never-ending money/influence well of discontent and/or war in Iraq by claiming "victory", while entangling its sovereignty to our occupation long after the murderers are gone from Washington, and there is nothing Congress can do about it. They're hoping to force the issue while we're concentrating on the daily back and forth between the candidates, the troubling market and economy, gas prices, and whatever else the Mighty Media decides is important enough for us to know. It will be interesting to see how much Obama starts to subtly incorporate the war profiteering and criminal labels when speaking of Bush administration, and thus, McCain. I think he has to at this point.
