We're Thinking Of You Ave

I am a Sharks fan, so naturally, like 95% of the league, I hated Sean Avery with a fucking passion, that is, until I got a huge shock last year when the Rangers traded for him. An early birthday and/or Valentines Day gift for my daughter that I didn't think was a gift at all at the time. There have been plenty of players, Bure, Jagr, Kasparaitis, Shelley, just to name a recent few, that I have had to suck it up for, and ended up truly loving in the end. I thought that would never happen with Sean, but I was completely wrong, it happened almost instantly. New York was made for Avery, and vice-versa. He has been the most pleasant surprise in a bundled package of heart and loyalty that I never, ever, would have expected. He fucking loves this team and that town, and they love him back. Sean suffered a lacerated spleen during game 3 the other night. He's going to be OK, but it's still bleeding in Intensive Care, so obviously, he won't be playing again for the rest of the season. Our record sucks without Avery in the lineup, and that said, if they can't even be competitive and leave everything out there tonight, I won't feel bad at all about leaving hockey behind, for now. From the AP:
He was injured during Tuesday night’s 5-3 loss from a hit, possibly in the first period, but played despite worsening pain. He took seven shifts in the first period, five in the second, and seven in the third. He spent 4 minutes, 58 seconds on the ice in the final period.
While internally bleeding. That's who these guys are, that's what they do, that's why I love them. And that is why I'll be happy to return as a faithful NHL (and spending) supporter when it's about the game again, not just marketing it to a country that doesn't really give a shit about it. There are just too many fucking teams in the US.

I hope those guys go fuck those Pens up for Sean.

Before the ridiculous penalty shot.
This league is fucking absurd, they just continue to make a mockery of the sport.

Holy Shit!
We just pissed of Malkin and Crosby off enough to get them both in the box at the same time! And a powerplay with 6:28 left! Jesus, this is nerve wracking!

Damn well knew that some call was coming with so many calls going our way. This is dangerous, and I must say I am glad I decided to open that bottle of wine tonight instead of last night.

Fuckin' Cunts.
YEAHH bitches, that was a true Sean Avery-type win. King Henrik lives (and man, is he pretty doing it)! Loved the smashing on the "Super Stars". Only 6, that's 6 more straight wins to go. Bahh, I'm not going to think about that tonight. That was a decisive win, I'm going to enjoy it, dammit. I love my Rangers.

Afterthought.
Just a reminder of the typical talk surrounding the trade last year (Roenick being another guy I can't believe I'm in love with, and I also loved Jason Ward at the time). And Sean's a democrat (I never thought he was a racist, just an idiot asshole, and anyone can change). He joked about being in love with Hillary back in December (I think that's when it was). He's a smart boy, I'm sure he was just being a homer like he's supposed to be. I truly believe we possibly have the only "openly" gay player (as open as you can be in male pro sports) in the league (I won't name him, but there is no way that many Rangers fans don't know who I am talking about), Sean was on his line when they were both in the lineup over the past year. This guy takes a lot of late hits and cheap shots, many times with the opponent mouthing off to him in the process, one can only imagine what they're saying, it's frustrating to watch. Avery was the first player, since Messier, to flat out head hunt anyone that messed with this guy. He's a fan favorite and, of course, I love him to death. He just happens to send my perceptive instincts through the roof, he always has. Of course, this just makes me love him more, especially since he's not a big guy and he always bounces right back up after a punishing hit. And he's adorable. This also made realize me what a fucking genius and loyal team player Avery was, instantly, on and off the ice. He has not let me down. If we don't re-sign him, thousands of Rangers fans across the country will be crushed. He might be a shithead, but he's one hell of a guy and team member.
