Thank You, Sydney Pollack, July 1, 1934 - May 26, 2008

There were three key things that I took from this movie, Out of Africa: my desire to learn to fly, my overwhelming need to spend time in Kenya/Africa, all the while, subtly contributing to the formation of my desire to make films. Three things that are still very important in my life.

Because my mom owned the album, and listened to it a lot, this was also the first time I truly appreciated how powerful a score and soundtrack can be for a traditional film. It was also the first time I fell in love with Streep and Redford. So thank you, Sydney Pollack, you have surely affected millions of lives.

He also directed this classic "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour", The Black Curtain.
