Howard Dean is kicking some serious ass this morning. Watch live here.
You know you're a political nerd when you're listening to Alexis Herman explain the process and why this is happening in the first place, and the first thing that pops in your head is, "This is awesome." Dork.
It's unfortunate that it came to this...But it is awesome.
I wish I was smart. Is he asking for all pledged delegates to be made Super Delegates? Jon Ausman's word of the hour, "shall". This dude looks like a creepy cross between Cheney and Rove.
Ok, so is he asking for 1/2 of the pledged delegates to become Super Delegates? Did I just misunderstand that all together? Lawyer parsing is annoying. In general, Florida can go fuck itself (I can say that, I've spent time all over that shithole state, and some of my family lives there).
Maybe I'm just a calloused bitch, but I am completely unaffected by Senator Bill Nelson's stories. What about all the people with dramatic stories that trusted their party when they told them that their vote wouldn't count and stayed home? Where was your "passion" when all of these people accepted the consequences? No, this isn't just about the people of Florida, this is about the DNC and the general election, ya egomaniac. Maybe it's that I had to give up my vote because I didn't stay within the rules, and I didn't march to the DNC to complain about, I don't know. (Marshall via ABlog live blog)
Meanwhile, Aravosis mentioned there's a Tornado Watch in the DC area!
Ho-ho, it's getting heated, or adversarial! Do these people buy their own shit? David McDonald is clearly unnerving Bill Nelson.
Aravosis reminder:
Even though I completely disagree with her stance, full vote my ass, Arthenia Joyner needs a position in the Obama administration. VP? And/or Donna Brazile! :)
Wexler!
I'm speechless. Watching this is making my stomach turn, I don't know why, but this feels... wrong, for lack of a better word. I understand why they're doing it, but something really doesn't feel right. I get the horrible feeling this concession is going to somehow bite us in the ass. You really should read Aravosis, though, he's actually there.
Nice, "I wish you had asked that last year." Gotta appreciate Wexler's passion. So, I guess that means FL is pretty much a done deal?
Re: Nelson- I can always smell a bullshitter, read this.
Michigan already feels like it's going to be NAS-TY and we're not even 5 minutes in. Now that the Clinton supporters "won" the first round, they're going to really press to get the max in MI.
Re: Florida Sam Stein reports the allocation was already decided last night. (from Cesca)
Clinton supporters to Bonior, Fairness: "Booooo." What is this, the House of Commons?
Why is it a prerequisite of Clinton supporters to be obnoxious pre-clappers? All throughout this goddamn primary season! They are clapping enthusiastically at the dumbest surfaced arguments; they're clapping like Elizabeth Smith just won a high school debate.
Crowd to Blanchard, "Yay lunch!" This is far from boring (to my geek ass, anyway), but political grandstanding is always annoying. Maybe I'm wrong on this, but didn't the "uncommitted campaign" not start until right before the election? Well, Jim, in light of today's meeting, it's a good fucking thing it was launched!
DKos DHinMI regarding MI (from Jed).
What the fuck did Blanchard just say about the delegates flip-flopping 'til August?
Thank you Allan Katz, "We run the risk of trivializing horrendous events that occurred. What happened in FL in 2000 is not equivalent to arguing over how many delegates are selected in MI. People in FL, votes, their votes were not counted, they were turned away from the polls, and that election was stolen. What you have here is a dispute over how we measure the people that voted. The more the way we stay away from trying to make those kinds of parallels the more productive we are."
Then more surfaced clap queue's from Blanchard.
And thank you Martha Fuller Clark: Recognize that your saying write in voters don't count, neither do those that followed the rules.
Donna Brazile is fucking awesome, "My momma always taught me to play by the rules, and to respect those rules." Clinton idiots,"Booooo." "And my mother also taught me, as I'm sure your mother taught you[...]when you decide to change the rules middle of the game, end of the game, that's cheating."
Lunch, this laptop is fucked, so I'm aware of the the recent delay, sorry if there is anyone who actually gives a shit. Reconvene at 4:15.
On a lighter note, I love Maddow with (seemingly) no makeup, she's got such a puurty face. And holy crap, I've been watching CSPAN, I didn't realize that MSNBC has been babbling for the last bit of the MI argument. That's a shame.
